Bharati Vidyapeeth is proud to start professional and part time courses in Performing Arts

Criteria for Graduation courses: B.A. (Music / Dance) (Semester Pattern – Credit System)

Criteria for Graduation courses: B.A. (Music / Dance) (Semester Pattern – Credit System)
Minimum Qualifications
  • This is a three year full time course. Any student after passing 12th std. HSC or equivalent examination can apply for the course.
  • The candidate has to undergo a common entrance (Performance) test before a panel of eminent scholars from the field of Music / Dance.
  • This course is not for beginners. Candidates should have basic training in the field of performing arts.

External Students can also seek admission to this course. They should furnish course completion certificate from their Guru. Guru should give in writing that he/she will take theory paper of the concerned student.

Minimum Mandatory Experience while applying:
Music
  • Vocal: Candidate should know at least three Ragas and should be able to sing Chhota Khayal composition with Aalap and Taan or Dhrupad with its Vistar for 10 min.
  • Instrumental (Non Percussion): (Harmonium, Flute, Santoor, Sarod, Shehnai, Sundri, Sarangi, Sitar, Violin.) Nine streams are available for this course. Candidate should know at least three Ragas and should be able to play Madhya Laya Gat or Bandish with Aalap and Taan for 10 Min.
  • Instrumental (Percussion): Candidate should know at least two Talas. Candidate should know the components of Tabla / Pakhawaj solo performance and should have basic knowledge of accompaniment. Candidate should be able to perform / play Kayada / Paran, Rela, Tukada etc for 10 Mins.
Dance
  • Bharatnatyam: Candidate should be able to perform solo Bharatnatyam with focus on Nritta and Abhinaya (Compositions like Alaripu, Jatiswaram, Kautukam or Shloka)for 10 Mins.
  • Kathak: Candidate should have knowledge of at least two Taals. Candidate should be able to perform kathak for 10 mins. Showing Vandana, Gatbhav, Thumari, Toda, Tukada etc.

Criteria for Post Graduation courses: M.A. (Music / Dance) (Semester Pattern – Credit System)

Minimum Qualification
  • This is a two years full time course. Any student after passing graduation examination from a recognized institute can apply for the course.
  • The candidate has to undergo a common audition test before a panel of eminent scholars from the field of Music / Dance.
  • This course is not for beginners. Candidates should have basic training in the field of performing arts.

External Students can also seek admission to this course. Guru should give in writing that he/she will take theory paper of the concerned student. They should furnish course completion certificate from their

  • Vocal: Candidate should have been trained in at least Seven Ragas. Candidate should be able sing Khayal (Wilambit and Drut) Aalap and Taan or Dhrupad with its proper elaboration by playing his / her own Tanpura for 15 Mins.
  • Instrumental (Non Percussion): (Harmonium, Flute, Santoor, Sarod, Shehnai, Sundri, Sarangi, Sitar, Violin.) Nine streams are available for this course. Candidate should have been trained in at least Seven Ragas. Candidate should be able to play Masitkhani and Razakhani Gat or Bandish (Wilambit and Drut) with Aalap and Taan for 15 Min.
  • Instrumental (Percussion): Candidate should know at least five Taals, Candidate should know the components of Tabla / Pakhawaj solo performance and accompaniment. Candidate should be able to play Peshkar / Prastar, Kayada, Paran, Rela, Chakradhar , Tukda, etc for 15 Mins.
Dance
  • Bharatnatyam: Candidate should be able to perform solo Bharatnatyam with focus on Koutukam, Padam, Varnam, Tillana for 15 Mins.
  • Kathak:Candidate should know at least three Taals. Candidate should be able to perform solo Kathak for 15 Mins. Showing Vandana, Gatbhav, Tatkar with its specialities, Layakari, Farmaishi Chakradhar, Paran, Thumari, Toda, Tukada etc.
Admission criteria:

The candidate has to undergo a common live performance audition test of 15 minutes before a panel of eminent scholars from the field of Music / Dance. Candidates passing the entrance audition test will be admitted to 1st year M.A. (Music) / M.A. (Dance) course

Criteria for Ph.D. Course (Music / Dance)

Criteria for Ph.D. Course (Music / Dance)
Minimum qualification to apply for Ph.D. course in Music / Dance is:
  • Candidate should be a post graduate in Music / Dance from a recognized University.
  • There will be common entrance test for getting admission for the Ph.D. course in Music / Dance.
  • Common test will include a written examination based on Post Graduation course on Music / Dance and Viva.

Criteria For Part time Certificate and Diploma courses in Music and Dance

Eligibility Criteria

As these are part- time certificate and diploma courses, there would not be any criteria for formal educational qualification for certificate courses. For Diploma courses minimum qualification would be minimum qualification is 12th Std. (H.S.C.) passed or equivalent from recognized institute. Age limit would be minimum 8, years at the time of registration for Foundation Course.

  • New student would appear for the Foundation Course only.
  • Starting form Foundation course after passing the particular Module student would be gradually admitted to next Module.
  • Starting form Foundation course after passing the particular Module student would be gradually admitted to next Module. Expert committee (members of BVDU BOS in performing arts) would recognize students who have passed a particular examination (conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay Mandal / Bharatgayan Samaj / Kalavardhini etc.) of other institutions and they can directly appear for our respective course module as per rules and regulation formed by the expert committee. (If he/ she want, he / she could give our multiple examinations together, as per the rules prescribed by the expert committee.)

Note: It is proposed that there should be an Annual Pattern of examination to recommend the structure of fees for these courses including modules.
The examination cycles will be of two ways.

  • In December: The student can join in January / February for December Cycle
  • In April: The student can join in June / July for April Cycle

Criteria for Diploma Course in Kirtan (Naradiya and Varakari Kirtan Styles) (Semester Pattern – Credit System)

Criteria for Diploma Course in Kirtan (Naradiya and Varakari Kirtan Styles) (Semester Pattern – Credit System)
  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can apply for the course. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.
  • New student will have to appear for Semester 1st. After passing the particular Semester Examination student would be gradually admitted to next Semester.
  • Student doing any other course in Bharati Vidyapeeth University or any other University can also take admission to this course simultaneously while doing their respective course.

Criteria for Diploma Course in Dance Choreography

Criteria for Diploma Course in Dance Choreography
  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can take admission. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.
  • New student will have to appear for Semester 1st. After passing the particular Semester Examination student would be gradually admitted to next Semester.
  • Student doing any other course in Bharati Vidyapeeth University or any other University can also take admission to this course simultaneously while doing their respective course.
